Measles vaccinations for children in Conakry, the capital of Guinea, during an outbreak of the disease that primarily affects children and can lead to severe medical complications. Collaborating with the Ministry of Health, 32 teams were deployed in community centres and public spaces with the aim of vaccinating more than 390,000 children aged six months to 10 years. MSF rapidly organises mass vaccination campaigns in collaboration with Ministries of Health whenever an outbreak occurs, because measles
is highly contagious and spreads quickly. Every year, more than 1 million children are vaccinated against measles.
Despite high vaccine prices, import restrictions, logistical issues and challenging schedules, vaccination is an essential activity for MSF as it remains the best tool for prevention.](https://www.msf.org.uy/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2024/04/MSB161056_Medium.jpg)

At Ad Dahi rural hospital in northern Yemen Naima is being examined by the medical team. Her mother brought her to the hospital because she had a high fever and diarrhoea, which are very common symptoms in malnourished children. After being stabilized at the hospital, children suffering from severe acute malnutrition with complications are referred to the specialised MSF therapeutic feeding centre.
Malnutrition is a persistent risk to children in Yemen, with seasonal and annual peaks linked to the lean season between harvests. This pattern was already evident before the escalation of the war in late 2014, but has worsened and become more widespread due to the ongoing conflict, which has exacerbated food insecurity for people living in vulnerable conditions.](https://www.msf.org.uy/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2024/04/MSB160914_Medium.jpg)

Naima, 1 year and 2 months
Her mother brought her to the hospital after suffering from a high fever and diarrhea.
“She has been sick for many times as we know from the mother and she has a fever over and over again and this very common especially with the malnourished children. A very difficult and complicated issue here is that of severe acute malnutrition. Mothers are gaunt and their babies look emaciated. Mother’s milk is unavailable from their own malnutrition, so they feed their babies sugar water or goat milk. Often these babies will be 8-12 months old but look like a premature neonate, weighing less than a few kilograms.” says Dr Matt Cloutier MSF ER doctor in Ad Dahi Rural hospital”](https://www.msf.org.uy/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2024/05/MSB143642_Medium.jpg)

There is not enough food for everyone, but this is not important to us. What we need – but don’t have – is information about our papers.
We were given a piece of paper by the port police, but since then we have been waiting here and have heard nothing. Nobody tells us anything. There is no one responsible to give us any information, and we don’t know what to do. No authority, no police, no information, nothing.
